friday letters...7

Dear Blog,
Words are on my tongue, begging to be released... but I am having trouble making light over today.  But writing that alone reminds me, this space is mine.  And while today is heavy on my heart, He gave His life so I could live.  And today... my words are living.

Dear Good Friday,
You make my heart ache and my eyes spill tears of sorrow. But... as I was driving along listening to the radio these words caressed my heart: there is hope for the helpless, rest for the weary, and love for the broken hearts. there is grace and forgiveness, mercy and healing He'll meet you wherever you are... {lyrics from cry out to jesus, third day}  Even after the words had been sung, my soul lingered and revelled in the promise. The promise that would not be possible without you, Good Friday. This year, the tears may still pour, but when my mind goes to the cross, those are the promises that I will remember...

Dear Doctor,
Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I don't think I can say it enough. It has been a long two months with a mess of pain and catheters and infection.  And now, thanks to you, I am free. And I feel fantastical.  That is a real word, right?

Dear Eric,
Oh my dear... how did you put up with me?  Thank you... for loving me while I was at my worst.  For making me laugh when I felt like there was nothing funny. I love you.

Dear Bob,
I saw the banana birthday card and stopped looking. Normally I would keep searching... for one that would come close to expressing my love for you and the role you take in our lives. But I know you know... so I went for the laugh.  And just so you know?  My boss was shocked when I told her we celebrated 70.  She thinks you are the youngest 70 she has ever seen.  I love you!!  {even though you left Mom with the alligators!}

Dear Florida,
You are amazing. This cool spring weather makes my head spin and reminds me again and again why I love living here!  I will make the most of the beautiful days, and store them up as best I can... before you lean towards hazy, hot & humid.  And while we are making the most of the days, I will cheer for the hometown heroes.  For our FGCU Eagles and for Lazaro Arbos... because when excitement comes to town you might as well be part of the party!

five minute friday...remember...

One year can fly... and still, be so near to my heart. I sent her a text filled with birthday wishes before the sun rose in the sky... and she replied quickly I am so thankful to be celebrating this day.  Many texts flew that day between us two... but that first one was most telling. And the one that made me full.

We celebrated ringside... at the hog show. There was no place else to be but the county fair, her favorite. Hugs and sweet gifts, and watching her son walk 'round the ring. I snapped photos but wondered if it was possible to capture all of that joy...

Today, before sunrise, I sent birthday prayers and wishes towards heaven.  Our friendship played before my eyes... too short, and yet... so much. Love. Grace. Laughter... and cheesecake.

Oh my dear, how I love you... and miss you...

departing from friday letters today... because the five minute prompt was made for my heart today...

friday letters...6

Dear Friends,
I think I have been tired... too tired to think about clicking on over here, let alone write anything! But I am healing and doing well. Thank you for the happy thoughts and prayers and well wishes.  They pulled me through those gloomy moments!  Wednesday night at church, a sweet lady reminded me that this too shall pass.  Yes.  I am hoping that in two weeks I can put all of this behind me for a very long time!

Dear Painted Buntings,
My neck is aching, as I keep whipping around to see if you have landed on the feeder again!  Your beauty is stunning and we have been so thankful for your visits! It has added some "special" to sitting around and healing!

Dear Camden,
You, oh you!  When you asked, I really wanted to say yes, but with all that has been going on, I knew that I would not be up to throwing any kind of party.  Thank you for understanding!  And I hope that you enjoyed yesterday as much as I did... my heart says that it was even better than a party!  And not only because we only ate pie all day!

Camden really hopes you had a Happy Pi Day! 3.14.13

Dear Collier County,
Cam & I just wanted to let you know how much fun we had exploring!  I do forget what fun it can be to be a tourist in your own city... and yesterday you reminded me!  From trains to end of the pier, we enjoyed every bit!

Dear Mr. Anhinga,
What fun it was to spot you with that fish!  {But Suz says you really should chew your food!}

Dear Friday,
Now that you are here, I'd like you to last forever...

this is the day...

This is the day... we get this show on the road.
At last, the next step. Another surgery. The last? I don't know.  But I know the One who does... and He holds me in the palm of His hand.

This is the day... the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!  I am.
