in the frenzy

To lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day... watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.-Sir John Lubbock

May is never a slow and easy month... it seems to tote a bushel of crazy at every turn. Every weekend arrives with a schedule that often overflows into the week... but May is the gateway to summer, and the prize of endless sunny days lies just beyond the busy. I try to savor each treasure, and gather enough energy to seek the next... but the pencil scribblings on my calendar twist up the thoughts in my head. So much so, that any beautiful words seem hindered from bumping together in my thought process. And if this mind of mine does happen to think a thought? I am likely to forget it before I ever jot it down.
I am kind of missing the words...

leftovers

It is not even 10:30… but my lunch is calling to me. Leftovers aren’t usually this enticing. Season beef over shredded lettuce and cheese… with salsa that makes me smile. And a tamale. All leftover from Cuatro de Mayo. I know… but you have to make time to celebrate Mexican food when you can. It was a delicious evening. Salty chips, 7-1 layer dip, fruity drinks, and friends. Because it isn’t all about the food. Anyone can make good food… but it takes great friends and lively conversation to make it a true fiesta. And while there is an abundance of food tucked into the fridge, there are just as many happy moments tucked away in my mind.

four feet

Week one, day three... done. I couldn't have done it with out him, or Him. We don't chat much along the way, other than the five minute warm-up... but just knowing he is by my side keeps me going. And today, day three, when the sun was still blaring strong and the heat tried to talk me out of any motivation I felt ... He provided the most amazing breeze. And before I knew it... we were done. Bring on week two...

the short list

Three things I would need for a beautiful day?
1. My family around me... hand-holding included.
2. A crazy fit of laughter.
3. A beautiful beach sunset.
