it brings me back...

My friend Kathleen knew just the girl to share her news with... me. And her news sent a delightful chill right up my spine! Kathleen had just purchased her daughter's first set of Mr. Sketch markers. Yes, the scented ones. To borrow an expression from Erin... Squeee! Do you remember them? (Right now my Mother is nodding her head and shaking it all at once... and saying, That's my daughter!)
I didn't even know they still made Mr. Sketch markers. I thought they were long gone... a blissful memory. But no. Kathleen said Staples. Well, guess who has a coupon and a gift card? Me!

Oh yes. I stopped on the way home. It was all I could do not to open the box on the way home and breathe the beautiful (non-toxic)scents of my dear old friends. But I resisted. Until now.

Just like I remember.
The tree trunk? Cinnamon.
The leaves? Apple.
The hollow that I believed to be in every tree? Licorice.
The dress that led me to believe I would be an artist? Orange.
It almost covers that little bit of disappointment over the packaging.
Because I was really hoping the markers would still be nestled in that styrofoam tray... and I don't really recall Mr. Sketch to be a watermelon.
But I'm pushing those thoughts aside... and am going back to drawing... and breathing in yesterday...

what a happy memory! I bought Mr. Sketch markers for Maura a couple of years ago for Christmas! I could hardly wait for her to open them so that I could start sniffing!!

How nice you bought them too! I also miss the styrofoam tray. We will never be unhappy if we can find these little joys!

How did I not have these??? I know of your fondness for all things colorful and smelly...good smelly. But I thought it was limited to sharpies.
I am upset I missed out on these. I must put in a complaint letter to my Mom.

I had the styrofoam tray! Oh, boy!

But mine weren't scented. Well, they smelled, but they weren't specially scented.

Anyway. . . you learned to draw flowers at the same art school as me. And you learned the correct order of the colors in the rainbow. Thank you very much, Roy G. Biv. But you learned about fashion design, and I didn't. I love that orange dress! I wish I had a waistline like that.

What fun.

Mmmmm I can smell them now! Don't remember that particular brand, but I know Jess had smelly markers. Ted was more into Sculpy and modeling clay. :<)
I miss my little people.//sigh\\

Oh my goodness I need some of these. When I was a cheerleader in High School we went through tons of these coloring posters. I don't think there are any markers that can compete. I wish I had a Staples in town. Might have to find them online. . .
