still... and hopefully forever

I spin the beads around my wrist.
I listen for the jingle at my ears.
I reach up for it around my neck, loving the shape of it.
These are the pieces of Africa I can touch. The bits that I can hold in my hand.
There is more... the visions and memories, dancing in my mind that make me feel like Africa was last week, not three months ago.
Three months?
Oh, the tears come. Love for Africa still runs through my body... and makes my heart swell.
Forever, I hope.

Has it REALLY been three months? No, surely three months haven't passed! But I guess they have.

Never fear. One thing I know about you. Love in your heart--for person or place--is forever love. Your heart will never lack the ability to swell. :)

Three Months? Does not seem like it was THAT long ago.
I am glad you have these wonderful reminders that you can touch, plus the reminders in your heart too.

Those tangible pieces from Africa barely scratch the surface at how your heart was molded and changed in Africa. Yet, they represent all that and more...so glad you have those reminders of such a life-changing time.

my hubbie and i met in kenya 25 years ago while both volunteering for a year(me teaching, he digging wells), and the saying is true - africa gets into your bloodstream like malaria, and you never fully recover...
thanks for stirring the memories :)

I discovered you through the sweet comment you left on my blog. I always enjoy seeing other people's blogs who have been to TZ! I love that necklace you have...where did you get it?
